Two photography exhibitions are opening this Friday,
August 6th, 5 pm – 7 pm
Visions of Nature – featuring the work of over 40 artists. Juror Diana Bloomfield has selected an amazing group of alternative process photographs. All works on display are hand-made prints using a variety of photographic processes.
2 Artists/2 Views – Photographs by North Carolina artist, Diana Bloomfield, and Silver City artist, Karen Hymer, are on view in the Flash Gallery at Light Art Space.
Both exhibitions will be on view through October 4th.

Layered Light: Contemporary Pinhole and Zone Plate Photography
Layered Light: Contemporary Pinhole and Zone Plate Photography is an international exhibition juried by Nancy Spencer and Scott McMahon. This exciting exhibition features black and white and color images made with film and digital pinhole and zone plate tools. Renner, Spencer and McMahon: A Three Decade Convergence.
This exhibition features the work of three renowned pinhole photographers. Nancy Spencer will exhibit “Images from Asia” taken during trips to China, Thailand, and Japan from 2006-2010. Eric Renner’s work will consist of his six pinhole images of the Southwest. Renner and Spencer worked on many collaborative projects and the work from those series will also be displayed. Light Art Space is located in the Downtown Historic Arts District in Silver City, New Mexico.
April has arrived with sun, wind, bright colors, and optimism. Two exhibitions are closing soon and two more will be opening. Workshops will be returning soon (the schedule to be sent in a separate email next week). We cautiously (masks still required and distancing observed) look forward to small gatherings and welcome locals and travelers into the gallery and our workshops.

Images made with analog and digital processes are welcome. Content and subject are up to the photographer – questions to consider are: Why are you using a pinhole camera? How does the pinhole/zone plate image support the content of the work?

Nancy Spencer, Director of Pinhole Resource Inc., and Scott McMahon, Associate Professor of Art at Columbia College.
