This is a great weekend to visit Silver City! Friday evening join us at LAS for a public reception for two new printmaking exhibitions.
Push & Pull, juried by Frank Rose director of Hecho a Mano gallery in Santa Fe, features hand-made prints by 19 artists from across the United States. Don’t miss the amazing work. Exhibiting Artists: Paul Acevedo Gomez, Justin Barfield, Stephanie Berrie, Douglas Bosley, Nancy Dodd, Joshua Flores, Raluca Iancu, Mario Kiran, Julianna Kirwin, Stephanie Koply, Lujiang Li, David Manje, Peter Nickel, Mike Pennekamp, Abigail Ranic, Anders Sandstrom, Roxanne Sexauer, Diane Vera-Ureño, Sharon Whitham.
Pressed: Five Printmakers in the Southwest present a variety of processes including collagraph, woodblock, monotype, drypoint, transfers, cyanotype, handmade books, silkscreen, and 3D constructions. Work by Jo Andersen, Cristina Cardenas, Jamie Karolich, Carmen Ruiz and Glory Tacheenie-Campoy.
The dates for both exhibitions are October 7th – November 12th, 2022. Reception: Friday, October 7th, 5pm – 7pm.
Weekend at the Galleries takes place Saturday 10 am – 7 pm, and Sunday 10 am – 3 pm. Stop in to see new work and demonstrations, and enjoy refreshments. Pick up a map/brochure at Light Art Space. The Silver City Art Association creature auction fundraiser will also take place on Saturday at the makers Market downtown. Come bid on your favorite Javelina, Raven, or Gila Monster.

Images Of The Human Body Using Alternative Photographic Techniques
This is a call for photographic imagery that focuses on the human body as depicted in hand-made prints using alternative photographic processes. Public or private spaces, full-body or partial bodies, nude or clothed, self-images or of others… male, female, non-binary, emotional, intellectual, confrontational, questioning, spiritual, sexual, sensual… All forms of exploration are welcome including images that examine subjects such as identity, intimacy, love, sexuality, gaze, social and cultural structure, beauty, ritual, and voyeurism.
Works created in the last four years are eligible.Acceptable processes include, but are not limited to, Cyanotype, Gum Bichromate, Van Dyke, Palladium/Platinum, Photopolymer Gravure, Copper Plate Gravure, Salt, Tintype, Silver Gelatin, Chemigrams, Phytograms, Lumens, Chromogenic prints, Hand-applied emulsions, Photo-encaustic, Carbon, Gumoil, Instant transfers and lifts, and Hand-manipulated (altered surface) digital prints. Combinations of these processes are welcome.Digital photographic images can be used in combination with other processes, but straight digital prints will not be accepted. 3D and experimental work is encouraged.
