The Still(ed) Life: Celebrating Handmade Photographic Art
Juror Diana Bloomfield chose 49 images from 35 artists from across the United States. Each work on display was created by the artist using hand-made photography processes, many of them from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Exhibition dates: August 4th – September 30th
Enjoy the work of Light Art Space Artists: Joel Armstrong, Joe Huebner, Karen Hymer, Kathleen Koopman, Rhonda Munzinger, Art Peterson, Susan Porter, Eric Renner, Nancy Spencer, and Juan Velasco.
Join us for a reception this Saturday 6 – 8 pm as we celebrate all things CLAY. Grace: Expressions Through Clay features clay work from across the United States and Mexico. Juror George Rodriguez chose 34 exceptional pieces by 27 artists.
Shapeshifters in the Flash Gallery is a solo exhibition by George Rodriguez. These large scale clay sculptures are not to be missed!
George will be speaking at the reception on Saturday at 7 pm. Both exhibitions will be on view through July 30th. Sponsored by the Silver City International CLAY Festival and Light Art Space.
The gallery is also flush with work by the Light Art Space artists: Joel Armstrong (drawings and collages), Kathleen Koopman (assemblages and boat sculptures), Art Peterson (wood tables, mirrors, and sculptures), Nancy Spencer (zone plate photography), Eric Renner (pinhole photography), Juan Velasco (wood sculptures), Karen Hymer (alternative process photography), Joe Huebner (paintings and drawings), Susan H. Porter (fiber arts), and Rhonda Munzinger (jewelry).

Light Art Space will reopen this Friday evening with a public reception featuring two CLAY exhibitions.
Grace: Expressions in Clay, is the 2023 Silver City International juried clay exhibition.
Juror George Rodriguez chose 34 clay art pieces by 27 artists from across the United States and Mexico.
In the Flash Gallery, we are pleased to feature Shapeshifters, the sculptural clay work of George Rodriguez. Both exhibitions are sponsored by the 2023 Silver City CLAY Festival and Light Art Space.
The exhibition dates for both are July 1 – 30th.
The Clay Festival reception will be held on Saturday, July 15th, 6 – 8 pm with the Juror talk at 7 pm.

The Still(ed) Life: Celebrating Handmade Photographic Art
In what often seems like an increasingly chaotic and fast-moving world, finding the beauty in stillness seems ever more meaningful. In this call, we celebrate the creation of the handmade print, using historic/alternative photographic printing techniques. All 2-D and 3-D handmade art is acceptable. Straight digital prints do not qualify. We look forward to seeing your own unique interpretations of The Still(ed) Life.
This is the final week to view Magical Light and Into the Wood (s). Stop by to view the stunning photographs by 26 Grant County photographers. Don’t miss the unique and whimsical wood art by Art Peterson. Thursday – Saturday, 11 am – 5 pm.
