Upcoming Exhibitions and Workshops

Light Art Space will reopen February 4th with an in-person reception, 5 pm – 7 pm. We are pleased to present photography by Grant County Photographers and new work by Light Art Space artists. In these final weeks of 2021, Flash and I wish you a lovely holiday season and a Healthy and Happy 2022.

Light Art Space will remain open through January 1st and then will be closed until early February.

We hope you will stop in to view all the wonderful art we have on display. The retrospect of Mimi Peterson’s work and the wood sculptures by Juan Velasco are not to be missed!  We have small and large pieces available, all at Silver City prices. If you can’t visit in person, I am available, by email or phone, to help you find that special gift.

Two New Exhibitions…Reception tonight!

Light Art Space is pleased to announce two final exhibitions of 2021. “Stages, An Art Making Life” is a retrospect by Mimi Calise Peterson featuring work from 1986 – 2021. Juan Valesco has filled the Flash Gallery with “A Revolution in Wood”  – one-of-a-kind wood sculptures made from local woods.  The work of these two Silver City artists will be on display through January 1st.

November Greetings!  This is the final week to view Bound the juried printmaking exhibition in the North Gallery.  The variety of imagery and techniques employed makes Bound an exciting viewing experience. Weekend at the Galleries and Workshops

Join us October 8th – 10th for the Silver City Art Association Weekend At The Galleries and the Southwest Print Fiesta.
There will be a self-guided gallery walk with receptions Saturday 4pm – 7pm, art demonstrations, food trucks, printmaking market and more. It will be an exciting weekend!
VISIT: and

LAS will feature two exhibitions:
BOUND. This juried handmade print exhibition addresses the basic principles of human connections.
Jurors Chip Thomas and Thea Gahr chose some amazing works by 30 artists.
Saints, Superheroes, and the Demonized. Printmaking by Marco Sánchez

Reception Friday Oct. 8th 4 pm – 8pm
Chip and Thea will do a gallery talk at 4pm.  Marco will speak about his work at 5:30

LAS will be open 11 am – 7 pm on Saturday and 10 am – 3 pm on Sunday
Saturday 4 pm – 6pm the Southwest Women’s Fiber Arts Collective will conduct demonstrations in the sculpture garden.

Plus – The Silver City Art Association is holding our Silent Auction Annual Fundraiser!  22 artists have created Ravens and Gila Monsters for the Silent Auction. You can view the creatures now at participating galleries in downtown Silver. All of the works will be together in the Association’s booth on Oct. 9th at the Maker’s Market, 7th and Bullard Streets, from 10am to 3pm. The highest bidders will be called when bidding closes at the Maker’s Market at 3pm. View all the creatures at:
