March winds have returned in Silver City. I don’t think winter is quite gone, but the fruit trees are budding out with optimism.
Tonight at Light Art Space, we celebrate two new exciting exhibitions. Join us from 5 – 7 pm.
Here are the details:
In the North gallery, Forms of Devotion features the work of 32 artists from New Mexico and Arizona. My co-curator, Joan Roberts Garcia, and I had a challenging task selecting from such strong work. Each artist responded to devotion in their artwork and statement in very unique ways. In these times of division, tension, and strife, I hope this exhibition offers moments of respite, reflection, and pleasure.
Congratulations to the exhibiting artists:
Lori Andersen, Maria Aragon, Laura Balombini, David Berry, Martha Blacklock, Vicky Blacknall, Ben Brown, Maya Chacon, Vanessa Dearing, Suzanne Ens, Kat Granat, Cheryl Hochberg, Kay, Khan Lisa Kirksey, Kathleen Koopman, Pat Lord, Susan Mach, Alivia Magana, Duane Marcus, Gillian Moore, Rachel Peach, Virginia Primozic, Elizabeth Pulford, Dan Ratliff, Mark Richard, Cecilia Stanford, Mark Timpany, Craig Wentz, Kit West, Zoe Wolfe.

Here are a few quick installation photos:

In the Flash Gallery, we are pleased to present Bagetelles, oil paintings by Silver City artist Mattoose.
Exhibition Dates:
March 5 – 28, 2026. Reception Friday, March 6, 5 -7 pm
On Sunday, March 22nd, join us for a Q&A with the artist in front of his work.
“For me the act of painting is a challenge. I do not set out to create a specific image or message from the start; I never know where I’m going. Rather, the act of painting creates the painting and its idea. And, if the challenge is good, then the image just presents itself, it’s a gift!” Mattoose.
