April 18th and 19th, 2020.
Join us for a two day pinhole and zone plate workshop designed for both beginners and advanced participants. Through demonstrations and hands-on experience, we will learn many of the sophisticated techniques of pinhole and zone plate photography. We will be working within a black and white darkroom, but will also discuss digital pinhole and zone plate techniques.
If you have already done pinhole photography, bring examples of your work including analog and digital imagery.
We have both worked within this fascinating yet mysterious world of pinhole and zone plate imaging for many decades. We look forward to sharing our knowledge and learning more together about pinhole and zone plate photography.
Nancy Spencer and Eric Renner are co-directors of Pinhole Resource, a non-profit dedicated to furthering information about pinhole and zone plate photography. Renner is the author of “Pinhole Photography: From Historic Technique to Digital Application”, now in it’s fourth edition. They founded and co-edited “Pinhole Journal” for 22 years. Spencer and Renner have exhibited their work internationally and have taught pinhole and zone plate workshops throughout the world.
In 2014, they donated the Pinhole Resource Collection of 6,000 photographs by 500 photographers from 36 countries to the New Mexico Museum of History, Palace of the Governors Photo Archives. Spencer and Renner curated the resulting exhibition and book “Poetics of Light” which later travelled to the National Media Museum in Bradford, England.
