This class shows artists how to make their own sketchbook or art journal. Using 140# Fabriano Artistico watercolor paper and a cover that can be decorated with sewing, collage, dyes, or paint, you will end up with a 6” x 7.5” x 1”, 32-leaf book. The design is adapted from a medieval structure with pages sewn in (non adhesive) that lie flat when opened.

The six-hour workshop in two parts will include an introduction to the project, showing many samples. The first session will be preparing the folios and cover. You will decorate your prepared cover at home between sessions, using sewing, collage, paint, or dyes, whatever your expertise is. Or you can leave it blank. In the second session we’ll sew the folios into the finished cover using waxed linen thread, resulting in a finished book.
