Watercolor Workshop
Learn the first steps of this amazing media and its diverse possibilities of use. In this two-day workshop participants will deal with the basic principles of the technique and experience the watercolor in three practical exercises: botanical illustration, urban/landscape plein air drawing and living model. No prior experience with watercolor or drawing is required. All necessary aspects of watercolor will be discussed including material, different techniques and examples of utilization.
Here is a brief outline of the process that will be presented in this workshop:
– Presentation of the material: history of the watercolor, different materials and possibilities of use, color theory and experimentation exercises.
– First exercise: botanical illustration – using flowers and leaves we will explain the first steps about layer overlay in watercolor.
– Second exercise: drawing the town – we will use the landscape and the buildings around us to observe and do some plein air watercolors. This kind of drawings is very interesting for sketchbook and travel journals.
– Third exercise: living model – we will finish our workshop with this art activity that allows each one to use the potential of watercolor in the expression of the human body.
The following materials will be provided: paper, ink pen, water container, masking tape and all the material for the three exercises.
Students provide:
Basic watercolor case and Two soft round brushes with sizes between 2 and 8.
When you register for the workshop, we will send some suggestions of materials to purchase in Silver City or Internet. If you already have some watercolor material, you don’t need to buy a new one. Just bring what you have.
