Artist statement
I love stripes!!! I love to play with the width, the color, the balance. I love them if they’re crisp stripes next to one another or if they’re blurred stripes, soft and subtle.
This is all new work. It starts with dyeing stripes, adding color, taking color away, adding more color, and then I get to make stripes from the stripes! I also am a strip piecer. I love to cut long strips of these beautifully dyed stripes, piece them all together, and cut them up again and again and again. Then I start to figure out what to do with them. I think this new work is about how I can make the color move. It can be a subtle, slow movement, or it can be a sharp contrast movement. I’m playing and learning as I go. I’m excited about this new work and can’t wait to see how it will evolve!
