Tintype Photography November 10th

Spend the day learning to make tintypes with Kevin Black.  We will be working with the traditional Wet Plate collodion methods to make tintypes and ambrotypes, both of people and of objects you bring from home.  Kevin have been teaching this class for a couple of years now and bring great energy and a passion for teaching to your workshop experience.  All equipment and materials will be provided, all photography levels welcome to this introductory class. Kevin will have his custom built tintype trailer – a large portable darkroom on wheels specifically built for tintype.  We will work in comfort.

Topics to be covered will include:

• Information on materials and equipment necessary to get started on your own
• Safety
• Large format camera operation
• Coating, exposing and developing 4×5 tintype plates
• Varnishing and presentation
• Class limited to 6 students
• Printed handouts will be provided, but will be limited to the scope of the workshop
