Valerie Galloway Bio
My work is feminine and romantic, with a retro sensibility, a world of it’s own. The people in my paintings have a mysterious, enigmatic quality. Each one tells their own story, somewhere between innocence and playfulness, with a touch of nostalgia.
Much of my inspiration comes from the 1960’s era, old family photos, French cinema, and the non-stop sunshine of my desert home.
I love the meditative nature of painting, and the challenges of creating new works.
My photo pendants are printed in the darkroom with fiber based paper, then toned with coffee and painted with inks and watercolors to create a one of a kind painted pendant, allowing it’s owner to wear original artwork on their body. These pendants complement my larger prints as more petite companion pieces if you will.
